Database Search Service

Reference librarians can perform literature searching for a fee in an extensive range of databases from vendors like Dialog, National Library of Medicine, OVID Technology, STN International (Chemical Abstracts Service) . Usually it is a same day service. Computer search request forms are available at the Information Desk . Requests will also be accepted by phone at 737-4065 or send an email message.

The charges vary depending on the database searched, the complexity of the search and the number of citations printed.

A $25.00 deposit or a Yale University account is required in advance for persons who are affiliated with Yale-New Haven Medical Center or Yale University. This fee includes a $10.00 service charge.

A $35.00 deposit is required in advance for persons not affiliated with Yale. This fee includes a $20.00 service charge.

A $50.00 deposit is required in advance for businesses, law firms, and other organizations. This fee includes a $35.00 service charge.

Average MEDLINE fees without service charge are $5.00 for 15 citations, $15.00 for 50 citations, $25.00 for 100 citations and $35.00 for 150 citations.

Chemical Abstracts searches are offered for free for researchers working in Yale-New Haven Medica l Center.
