AdvocacyPhilanthropyHow You Can Help**Yale Pediatrics is seeking partners in our quest to improve children's lives. Patient Care Minimally Invasive Surgery for Children. Minimally invasive surgery involves smaller scars, less pain, shorter recovery times, and outcomes that equal or surpass those of more invasive procedures. Dr. Larry Moss and his colleagues in the Section of Pediatric Surgery have pioneered these techniques for children suffering from appendicitis, necrotizing enterocolitis, or a host of other illnesses. We invite you to join us in bringing this state-of-the art technology to the tiniest patients. Pain and Sedation Services for Children. Minimizing pain and discomfort connected with hospitalization is a prime goal of parents and pediatricians alike. Pediatric anesthesiologists in the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital currently direct a pain service that provides 24/7 coverage for the evaluation and treatment of pain in children. Together with colleagues in anesthesiology, intensive care specialists from the Department of Pediatrics provide coverage for procedural sedation in both the in-patient and out-patient settings. Palliative care (reducing the severity of symptoms or alleviating symptoms) eases the suffering of terminally ill children approaching the end of life. Services for pain, sedation, and palliative care are not reimbursed by most insurers; your generous donations enable us to put children's needs first. Pediatric Procedure Suite. Children undergoing scoping procedures of the esophagus, colon, or trachea benefit from a private procedure suite where extra time can be spent to prepare the patient. Doctors specially trained in caring for children's smaller and more delicate organs will use this suite to treat a variety of ailments in child-centered surroundings.
