New York, New York

Elected Alumni Fellow in 2002, Maya Lin divides her time equally between art and architecture. As a twenty-one-year-old Yale undergraduate she created the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall in Washington, D.C. (1981), and then returned to Yale to complete a Master of Architecture degree in 1986. She established her own studio in New York City and has gone on to create artworks, memorials, and architectural projects that have won international acclaim.

Ms. Lin's artwork is represented by Gagosian Gallery in New York City. She is a board member of the Natural Resources Defense Council and has served on the board of the Energy Foundation. She also serves on the boards of the Southern Poverty Law Center's Teaching Tolerance Project and the Kennedy Museum of Art at Ohio University, and on an advisory panel of the Studio in a School in New York.
