Will Miller has been chairman and chief executive officer of Irwin Financial Corporation, a Columbus, Indiana-based company that offers consumers mortgage and home-equity loans and provides loans and leasing services to small businesses throughout North America, since 1990. After earning his B.A. at Yale, Mr. Miller worked as an assembly line foreman in a diesel engine plant. He earned an M.B.A. from Stanford University in 1981 and worked as an associate at E. M. Warburg Pincus & Co. in New York City. He returned to Columbus to become president of Irwin Management Company, a separate investment company, before joining Irwin Financial.
Mr. Miller serves on the boards of Cummins Inc. and three mutual funds managed by Capital Research & Management. His not-for-profit board service currently includes the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Taft School, the Irwin-Sweeney-Miller Foundation, the Cummins Engine Foundation, and the National Building Museum. At Yale, he has chaired the University Council Committee on the School of Architecture and serves on the School of Architecture's Dean's Council. He was elected Alumni Fellow in 2006.
